    • Sesh 1: Zen, or the Art to Catch a Killer (S1E3)

      • My texts:
        • What is the sound of a silent drape runner?
        • Red room evokes more a nightmare version of 50s decor, which at least is usually homey. Red room suggests the opposite of a place.
        • Rape, murder, incest, abuse. Nothing else has taken on these topics so directly and effectively.
    • Sesh 2: Beyond Life and Death (last ep of S2)

      • now listening to class. Corbin coined term "imaginal"; imaginal world is in between platonic forms and material reality (?)
      • The flashlight in the woods: you can see any part of reality, but never the whole, which is unseeable, unnameable
      • Annie's psalm
      • Andy is only person who goes into the lodge and emerges unscathed
      • JFM confessing to "manicheasm" or moral dualism, but the White Lodge and Black Lodge are "one and the same".
      • Laura's moves at the climax were channeling Bob, funny they didn't mention.
      • Nadine's drapes and the red room, and the engine oil
      • Coopers white-night self, and his shadow side.
      • JFM: since there is no spatial extension in the imaginal realm, a monster and its cave or horde are one and the same.
      • Notable how Cooper's manner at the end (when he is inhabited by Bob) resembles Mr C from S3. The special horror his laughter at "How's Annie?" – like, expressing concern for another human being is the most ridiculous thing ever.
    • Sesh 3: Fire Walk With Me

      • tv static ≡ s3e8 nuclear stuff
      • JFM: Lil means that Deer Meadow is not taking place in our reality
        • Cole and coded communication
      • Deer Meadow as satanic inversion of Twin Peaks...black lodge has it infested.
      • Cable (name of Deer Meadow sherrif) suggests electricity.
      • PF: noticed the deadness of the dead body.
      • HDS "I've already been places"
      • Nathan: Lil – Sumerian wind goddess – uncle theme – Lacanian
      • Jacob Mullis – Laura is the one.
        • Noir has no heroes.
    • Sesh 4: Gotta Light?

      • PF: Some artworks are just weirndess generators (Valis, Twin Peaks, Parsifal)
      • JFM: all the little haunted technologies (electricity, formica table) represent the return of the banished spirits in the modern world. He says, the problem is we aren't modern enough, we haven't realized the consequences of modernity, and I think I agree with him there? We need to see the other side of our own episteme.
      • Brakhage obvious influence on atom bomb sequence
      • JFM: Twin Peaks is where the real world invades fiction, TP as magical working, a hyperstition or hypersigil.
